Total Recall VR 9.10.0 released

We are making release Total Recall VR 9.10.0 available today to address a security concern related to data (recordings and metadata) being left on CD/DVD/BD discs when erased.

Erasing discs was a secondary function of the Total Recall VR. As a result, erasing did not actually blank discs. Instead it just destroyed the directory table. Disposal of such discs meant that data (recording and their metadata) could be resurrected by skilful parties and then used for malicious action. To address this concern, we have modified the disc erase function to fully blank discs so you can be sure that discs erased by Total Recall VR are safe to dispose and data cannot be recovered from discs erased by Total Recall VR.

NOTE: Total Recall VR may not be able to erase all some brands of CD-RW discs (and possibly DVD+RW and BD-RE discs) due to limits in the drivers used for DVD and BluRay drives. It is impossible for us to test every disc brand out there. So, if you concerned about data on disposed discs, then test the Total Recall VR disc erase function on the brand of discs that you are using to make sure that the data is gone. It also recommended to use 3rd party disc blanking software available for PCs.

We are also using the opportunity to update the time zone data files to revision 2012j with release 9.10.0.
