Version 10.8.0 - Release date 26th March 2015

The 10.8.0 release is a major release of the Total Recall VR LinX technology which powers the new passive and active audio logging and call recording products.

The major new inclusion in the 10.8.0 release is support for the new LinX Neos which is replacing the Classic Desktop. LinX Neos, apart from being based on the LinX technology, features an industrial strength desktop enclosure, maximum 24 analogue channels and 30 VoIP channels.

In addition, we added support for Digium ISDN cards which can be used to replace or in combination with the Rhino ISDN cards.

Further, we improved the quality of the recorded audio on ISDN and VoIP channels by adding a method of mixing audio in real time. The new mixer uses the world recognized Align-to-Energy Weighted algorithm.

Finally, 10.8.0 contains preliminary support for recording RTP streams in Hytera DMR environments. At this stage the following issues exist and we expect that all will be resolved once Hytera releases version 7.0 firmware for their repeaters:

  1. Total Recall VR will record RTP streams from Hytera repeaters with firmware version 6.0 or below, however the ID of the source and destination radio are not available as the RTP packets do not contain the Hytera extension.
  2. Total Recall VR will record RTP streams from Hytera repeaters with firmware version 6.5, however the ID of the source and destination radio are not available as the RTP packets do not implement the Hytera extension correctly.

In summary, the release 10.8.0 includes:

  1. Support for LinX Neos.
  2. Support for Digium ISDN cards.
  3. New audio mixer that uses the Align-to-Energy Weighted algorithm.
  4. Preliminary support for recording RTP streams on Hytera DMR networks.
  5. The time zone data files were updated to version 2015a.
  6. The following defects were removed:
    1. Analogue channel card lock-ups no longer result in end of recording on all analogue channels. Instead, only the channels on the locked up card are affected.
    2. The system now detects native library and kernel (Linux) errors and continues recording if at all possible. If not possible, then the system automatically reboots which minimizes the non-recording period.
    3. An issue which was causing failure to records calls that use B channel 31 on E1 PRI ISDN links was removed.
    4. Remote Manager can now be installed on PCs without a DVD/BD disc drive.
    5. An issue that was preventing Remote Manager from saving system settings was removed.
    6. An issue that was preventing Remote Manager to set the network gateway was removed.
    7. The GHOST glibc CVE-2015-0235 vulnerability was investigated and action taken to remove it.
